Watched Netflix original today in my new home office-study-edit room-theatre. It was the debut show in this theatre.
Outrightly I disagree with the glorification of drugs in the film.
The movie is well done I feel, with vivid characters, engaging stories and dialogues, colourful frames, and an interesting set of scenes that seem sometimes fresh amidst an array of similar, new age content flooding the internet.
The lead actors are a reminder of Sex and the City sort of free spirited bunch of girls. The acting is good for the most part, dialogues are quirky, characters are true to their skin and well-thought out with some interesting moments that seem workshopped well with actors' inputs.
The lead actor's vulnerability, the fact that the lead actors are not outlandishly gorgeous, with well-crafted out grey areas, makes the film relatable. Although some dialogues seem over-scripted, but since they are delivered well, you don't feel the pinch.
The friends never fall out on each other beyond 30 seconds, which kind of feels unrealistic. Perhaps that was the moral of the story and therefore the friendship had to be perfectly portrayed.
Frames are bright with colourful props and characters, add to that gelled up lighting in several night scenes. Cinematography I felt was okayish, with focus missing in many critical moments. Well, the style of cinema is changing I agree, but the human eye isn't. It needs focus.
Editing-wise the pace could have been faster. The constant reference to flashback gets tedious after a while.
Overall a fun watch. Would have enjoyed a more thought out ending though.
